Format Multimedia Download

Tutorial di bawah ini akan membahas tentang cara-cara bagaimana untuk menjalankan file multimedia di windows anda antara lain XviD, DivX, 3gp, AAC, AC3 FLAV, FLV dll (ditekankan Windows Media Player). Tentunya yang diperlukan untuk itu adalah menginstall Codec , ada banyak cara untuk memutar file multimedia tersebut anda dapat memilih mana yang terbaik untuk anda. garis besar ada 3 cara untuk menjalanakan file multimedia dan install codec (diambil dari afterdawn.com) yaitu :

1. The “Eeasiest way”
Cara termudah untuk manjalankan hampir semua format file multimedia adalah dengan menginstall player yang sudah memiliki codec yang disertakan (internal filter) sehingga anda tidak perlu menginstall codec apapun ke OS anda, :Player yang direkomendasikan yaitu : VLC untuk Video dan Foobar untuk Audio.

2. The “Ugly Way”
Hehehe ini mungkin yg banyak ditempuh oleh kebanyakan orang, tinggal klik beres. Silahkan baca kutipan dibawah ini :
“Now, there's one common method that specially people new to digital video tend to use. It can be compared to killing a fly with a sledgehammer or something similar. Its called "codec packs". Basically a codec pack is a collection of most common decoding drivers (==codecs) in the world and the installation file of a codec pack installs all of these codecs to the user's operating system.

Sure, the way has its benefits -- it is highly likely that virtually all of the downloaded videos will play after installation of such pack. But, there are several downsides to this approach. First one is simply the fact that every Windows user knows -- more software you install to your computer, more unstable and "wobbly" it becomes. Secondly, it is really waste of resources to install codecs that are in reality never needed. Third, it is highly unlikely that all the components packed within such pack are the latest and best versions -- downloading and installing each codec individually would be a better approach if user wants to get all the latest codecs in the world installed to his/her computer. Additionally, as nowadays several codecs actually decode several video formats, when a video is played, it is often impossible for a Joe Average to tell which piece of software does the decoding of the video, making it virtually impossible to find the cause of a problem if a problem appears.

Anyway, as stated, codec packs are a popular option to sort out the codec mess and installing such pack would also allow using your favourite video player software instead of all-in-one solution like VLC.”

Intinya install yang hanya diperlukan, ada seorang user yang setiap ada versi baru Codec pack selalu mendownloadnya yang file nya lumayan gede >10 mb padahal kalo dilihat Change lognya yang dirubah (update ataupun downgrade)paleng2 cumak gak sampek 1 mb dan jengkelnya suruh uninstall terlebih dahulu. (user itu dulunya saya )

3. The “Elegant way”
Ini yang saya suka karena tulisan ini akan membahas tentang cara elegan ini. Yang dimaksud disini adalah install yang hanya diperlukan saja (berapa jeniskah file multimedia di computer anda?) , mengetahui file audio atau video yang akan dijalankan dikompress pakek apa, itu akan menambah pengetahuan anda tentang Multimedia. Ketika anda menjalankan sebuah file video dan tdk bisa diputar, maka analisa dan install apa yg diperlukan. Dibawah ini akan ditunjukkan informasi sebuah file video, silahkan donlod media info (portable)dibawah ini:

Ambil contoh ada sebuah file video dengan ekstensi MKV, silahkan lihat dibawah ini:


Pada gambar terbagi menjadi 4 bagian yaitu

1. Container, dalam gambar adalah matroska (MKV) , container dapat diartikan sebagai sebuah wadah yang menampung stream video dan audio. Container ini dapat dilihat dari Ekstensinya. Yang umum yaitu Matroska (MKV), MP4, AVI, DivX, OGM, FLV, MOV, 3GP.
2. Stream Video, dalam gambar adalah AVC/H264, format yang dihasilkan tergantung dari encoder yang dipakai, apakah itu x264, xvid, divx dll. Format yang umum adalah AVC/h264, MPEG-4 (Xvid,DivX), h263,.
3. Stream audio, pada gambar yaitu AAC. Yang umum MP3, AC3, AMR.
4. Subtitle, disini ditunjukkan bahwa file MKV tsb terdapat subtitle yang dapat anda tampilkan dengan VSFilter.

Pada Windows Media Player atau directshow player lainnya untuk menjalankan container tertentu harus membutuhkan splitter untuk memecah container menjadi video dan audio yang selanjutnya akan didecode oleh Windows Media Player. Ambil contoh untuk file MKV diatas maka anda membutuhkan MKV splitter, AVC decoder dan AAC Decoder, simple kan. Hal yang sama untuk Container yg lain. Anda dapat menginstall Splitter dan decoder secara manual : yaitu dengan perintah regsvr32 /s MatroskaSplitter.ax dan regsvr32 /u /s MatroskaSplitter.ax untuk uninstall.

Untuk mempermudah proses install , saya membuat software untuk masing2 splitter dan decoder, software ini tanpa instalasi apapun (hanya copy ke system32 terus regsvr32) jadi tinggal klik dan iinstall (agar tidak memenuhi start menu dan registry) so aman, begitu juga proses uninstall, tinggal klik aja beres. Cara elegan ini ditujukan untuk kemudahan update dan penanganan masalah yg mudah.
